Intergenerational Activities

Located on a campus with the Pennie Z. Davis Child Development Center (CDC) and the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home, Friedel students enjoy the great benefit of intergenerational programming.  We offer our students opportunities to interact and create ongoing, meaningful relationships. For children, intergenerational programs offer benefits such as improved academic performance, enhanced social skills, decreased negative behavior, and an understanding of our obligation to care for others.  Programming has included:

  • Charlotte’s Web book sharing project with our 3rd & 4th graders and Blumkin Home Residents
  • International Intergenerational Tu B’Shevat Seder with children from the CDC and residents from the Blumkin Home plus our friends from the Ma’ayanot School in Israel and a Seniors program at a Kibbutz
  • Percussionist-in-Residence week-long workshop with our 5th & 6th graders and Blumkin Home residents
  • Monthly Kabbalat Shabbat with Blumkin Home Residents
  • Holiday celebrations including our Purim Parade around campus, Sukkah Decorating at the Blumkin Home
